Overview

MLB player Alex Rodriguez (A-Rod) teamed up with the Cover Your Bases campaign to talk about his journey with gum disease and share what he’s learned about prevention and treatment. The campaign included educational content about gum disease and encouraged people to talk to their dentist about comprehensive treatment options.

The goal of the campaign was to get the word out about the connection between gum disease, heart health and diabetes. By using his extensive platform, he was able to share that while it’s not the most exciting or trendy subject, it’s extremely important. Arod’s desire to share his story was also fueled by the fact that the Latino community and people of color are disproportionately affected by gum disease.
